PHILOSOPHY & MISSION
MISSION STATEMENT
The Extraordinary Education Center exists to partner with parents in developing extraordinary, Christ-honoring, college-worthy,
culture-changing leaders for the next generation. We desire to help students discover and develop their unique,
God-given talents and abilities and lead them toward honoring and serving the Lord with their gifts.

MISSION VERSE
Romans 12: 1-3 (The Message)
Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it
before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him.
Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God.
You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it.
Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity,
God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

OUR VISION
We recognize that each child is an individual with unique educational needs. These needs can be difficult to meet in a traditional school setting. Schools are ill-equipped to meet the wide variety of individual needs found in any typical classroom. High student-teacher ratios, emphasis on testing rather than learning, and outdated methods of instruction compound the problem.

Extraordinary Education is committed to helping students reach their optimal educational and personal development through programs that encourage critical thinking, initiative, and advanced skills in an enriching and engaging way. By involving the entire family in the learning process, the child's unique educational, social, emotional and spiritual needs can be considered as a whole. We want to help families think outside the box and discover how they can meet the unique needs of their extraordinary child.

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Parent as Primary Educator
Extraordinary Education is founded on the belief that parents have both the right and the responsibility to direct the education of their children. We believe that the family is the primary sphere of influence for their child's education, and Extraordinary Education serves in a secondary, supportive role. We operate with the consent and support of parents to help them achieve the individual educational goals they have set for each child.

Customized Learning Experiences
At Extraordinary Education, we recognize that students are unique individuals with specific educational needs. We offer a choice-based menu, allowing students and their parents to customize their course load. We offer core classes, electives and enrichment programs designed to let you and your child create a schedule that meets your child's needs and takes into account their individual interests and abilities. Our classes are designed to augment your home-based learning.

We strive to create an environment that promotes learning for the sake of learning. Students and their parents are encouraged to select subjects that interest them. While we offer many core subjects and electives that satisfy the credit requirements found in traditional schools, there are no required courses to enroll at EE. Families may enroll in as many or as few classes as they desire. Grades are given only in core subject classes.

Skill Levels and Grade-level
At Extraordinary Education, we recognize that students develop at different rates, and a student who excels in one subject may have difficulties in other areas. Gifted students may need a challenge to stay interested; challenged students may need to move at a slower pace in order to grasp a particular subject. Our classes and programs allow students to develop at their own speed. Students are encouraged to work at their own level, not a grade level. Most of our classes and activities bring together students of complementary age ranges. Students who would be split into different grades in a traditional school setting are brought together to study, learn, and cooperate peer-to-peer, based on their interest and ability in a particular subject. Students are not "held back" nor are they pushed ahead simply because of their chronological age.
Class placement is a team decision involving parents, student, instructor and program director. Decisions are based on an evaluation of the student including his or her experience, areas of giftedness, interest level, social maturity and other relevant factors.

Peer-to-Peer Learning
We believe that there is tremendous value in peer-based learning. We create opportunities that facilitate meaningful student interaction, discovery, and a love of learning. We offer classes with flexible age ranges, working with parents to determine the optimum learning environment for their child.

Family-Centered Learning
We believe education can be greatly enhanced when families learn together. Because we have multi-age classrooms, it is often possible for siblings to enroll in the same class. We also sponsor family events and field trips.

We welcome parents in the classroom. Select classes even require parent participation. Whenever possible, we offer activities and alternatives to accommodate families who have children on different class schedules. This may include making play space available for younger siblings, supervised by their parents, while an older child is in class, or offering a space to study or play games for older students while they wait for a younger sibling.

Children with Special Needs
While Extraordinary Education does not have a special education program to serve the needs of severely disabled children, we are able to meet the needs of students with mild learning differences or behavioral issues in partnership with their parents. Depending on the child's specific needs, a parent may be required to accompany their child to class to assist their child in areas of difficulty. Assisting one's own child in class is not considered part of the family volunteer commitment and does not earn any tuition discount.
