Experience

After graduating from college in 2006, Mrs. Childress began teaching Pre-Algebra and
Algebra at a public middle school in her hometown of Antioch, California. She taught 3 years and was
well loved by her colleagues and students. After getting married, she left for Alabama and substituted in
elementary and middle schools there. Mrs. Childress never again took on full time work as an educator
in public school because she and her husband were growing a family of 4 children. After moving back to
California, Mrs. Childress began tutoring homeschooled teens in mathematics. She began to fall in love
with the idea of homeschooling her own children after a few years in public and private schools. The
Childress family moved to Magnolia, TX in 2021. They have been part of the EE community since 2022.

Qualifications

Mrs. Childress holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a minor in Mathematics from California
State University, East Bay/Hayward. She has a Lifetime Mathematics Teaching Credential from the same
University.

Fun Fact(s)

Mrs. Childress and her family have a farm with cows, chickens, goats, dogs, cats, and a hermit crab. She
has helped deliver a stuck baby lamb and nursed many farm animals back to health. She connects with
her students through stories, art, and silliness.

Background

Mrs. Childress likes organization, calm music, joyfulcolors, safety and emotional-connection. She likes to decorate her family’s Airbnb that she manages inher free time. But mostly, Mrs. Chill’s favorite hobbies include mowing many acres of grass, fishing withher family, wishing her Rottweiler was better trained and taking long road trips with her family!
