Experience
6+ years teaching public high school math, 20+ years 1:1 and group tutoring, 4+ years as a Homeschool Charter Teacher, 7+ years homeschooling my own 4 children.
I am passionate about mathematics and I believe that mathematics is truly fun! I believe in promoting student-led a-ha moments that create deep and lasting learning. Playing games together and promoting student-led discussions are my favorite ways to keep class fun and engaging. I want my students to have an active role in our session where they feel valued and connected. My primary goal is to make connections with my students. Each student must feel safe, seen and connected in order to be in a place of learning. This means that I do my best to notice when a student is blocked or distracted and I reach out to connect before moving on. I believe the key to mathematical success is to NOT focus on memorization or perfection, but instead focus on the process of learning.
